Introducing Our New VCs in Residence
--
Genius Guild’s core values are the foundation on which everything we do, including hiring new team members. I’m excited to welcome Tessa Flippin and Brian Laung Aoaeh as the new Venture Capitalists in Residence (VC-in-Residence) at the Fund.
As VCs-in-Residence, Tessa and Brian provide high-level institutional investment experience to Genius Guild/Greenhouse Fund. In exchange, Tessa and Brian receive funding, operational, and advisory support to build their fund from myself and the Greenhouse Fund team. The residency is a year commitment, with the option for extension.
Tessa Flippin is the Founder and Managing Partner of Capitalize VC, a pre-seed and seed-stage VC fund purpose-built to reduce the racial wealth gap by investing in early-stage Black and Latinx founders, while simultaneously creating access for diverse Limited Partners (LPs). Flippin began her career in venture capital as a venture investor at TechNexus, a Chicago-based fund, where she invested in enterprise SaaS at the seed stage. Before her work in venture capital, Tessa founded La Plataforma, a fintech payments platform that sends international money transfers throughout Latin America. Tessa holds a B.A. from Stanford University and an MBA from Columbia Business School where she studied entrepreneurship, venture capital, and social impact.
Brian Laung Aoaeh is the Co-Founder and General Partner of REFASHIOND Ventures, an early-stage venture capital fund that invests in startups creating innovations that refashion the global supply chains. Brian also founded the Worldwide Supply Chain Federation to create a global technological and innovative movement among the supply chain industry. The Federation has grown to 12 chapters and over 3,800 members around the world. Aoaeh serves as an Adjunct Professor at the NYU Tandon School of Engineering and holds a B.A. from Connecticut College and an MBA from New York University’s Leonard N. Stern School of Business where he studied financial instruments and markets.
We couldn’t be more excited to welcome Tessa and Brian to the Greenhouse Fund family. Throughout their careers, they have consistently displayed that they have the investment knowledge, values, and experience to help reinvent the outdated framework of venture capital and are committed to investing in companies that create value for everyone.
